ABOUT

DURBAN

SOUTH AFRICA.

Durban is the third most populous city in South Africa—after Johannesburg and Cape Town—and the largest city in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal. Located on the east coast of South Africa, Durban is the busiest port in the country. It is also one of the major centers of tourism because of the city’s warm subtropical climate and extensive beaches. Durban has a population of about 3.44 million, making the combined municipality one of the biggest cities on the Ocean coast of the African continent. It is also the second most important manufacturing hub in South Africa after Johannesburg. English is the major language and Christianity is the predominant religion.*

The Graves Memorial Library will be located in Durban. It will be more than just a building. Seminarians are struggling to gain a theological education. Apartheid, although “ended”, delayed development of a training center owned and operated by people of color. They own no college and have no money; they are not economically free. These books and library will best benefit men and women who have NO access to theological education. This will also lay the groundwork for what will develop into a theological seminary and possibly connect with theological schools in the states. The ultimate result is to equip these men and women to spread the gospel wherever they may go. What a tribute to Bishop and his global ministry and love of mentoring young people.
